How do you count every daisy in a field? You can't! Instead, scientists take SAMPLES — count organisms in small areas, then scale up to estimate the total. It's like tasting one spoonful of soup to check if the whole pot is salty enough. The key is making sure your sample is REPRESENTATIVE of the whole area.
