Free GCSE Revision Sites: Which One to Use for What

There is no single best free GCSE revision site. Each one does a different job well. Here is what we would actually use each for, including where PrepWise is not the right tool yet.

We built PrepWise, so we will tell you straight where it fits and where it does not. Nobody paid to be on this page, and we do not rank one site above another. Prices and features change, so we re-check everything each exam season. Last checked: June 2026.

Where PrepWise is not your answer (yet)

We would rather tell you straight. PrepWise will not help you if you need:

  • English Language or Literature. Built and coming soon, not live yet. Use BBC Bitesize or Seneca for now.
  • French, Spanish, German or other languages. We do not cover modern languages. Try BBC Bitesize or Seneca.
  • Other subjects like RS or Business. Not yet. Save My Exams and Seneca cover far more.
  • Official past papers. We write exam-style questions. For the real papers, go to your exam board, Physics & Maths Tutor or Cognito.
  • Video lessons. We teach with diagrams and interactive tools, not video. If you learn by watching, Cognito and BBC Bitesize are excellent.

What PrepWise does

Every topic across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths, History, Geography and Computer Science (AQA and OCR, Edexcel on several) has free notes, knowledge organisers, exam questions, flashcards and 5 revision games you can use without signing up. Sign up, which is free during alpha, and you also get adaptive quizzes that mark your written answers as you type, spaced-repetition flashcards, a daily plan built around what you keep getting wrong, and a parent dashboard. No ads, no upgrade nags, no paywall.

One honest way to put it: we are building PrepWise to be the one place that is free, distraction-free, and brings the full revision loop together. BBC Bitesize is just as clean but has no quizzes, plan or tracking; the tools that do have the loop tend to carry ads, memes or upgrade prompts. We are building for depth and a clean, complete experience within our 7 subjects, not for breadth or video. We are still in alpha, so if something is missing, tell us.
