⚠️ Los errores más frecuentes — the two errors that cost most marks
These two mistakes appear repeatedly in GCSE writing and speaking. Both involve ser contexts that learners incorrectly replace with estar.
❌ Error 1 (Profesión): Estoy médico.
✅ Correcto: Soy médico.
Por qué: Profession is a defining characteristic, not a temporary state — it uses ser. The form estoy + profession does not exist in Spanish and will be penalised immediately by an AQA examiner.
❌ Error 2 (Ubicación de un evento): La reunión está en el aula.
✅ Correcto: La reunión es en el aula.
Por qué: The location of an event (meeting, class, concert, wedding, conference) uses ser — not estar. This is the most common advanced ser/estar error. Compare: El aula está en el edificio A. — here the classroom (a permanent physical object) uses estar for its location. Events → ser; objects and people → estar.
