Never choose an answer based on sound alone. Build a sentence in your head and ask: does this meaning make sense?
- First listen: catch the main meaning of the passage
- Second listen: confirm the specific word — especially numbers, names, and verbs
- Use process of elimination: if options A and C make no sense in context, B or D is probably right
- For vino / vine: listen for what comes after — a (vino a = came to do something) vs a direct object (vino tinto = red wine)
- Write "?" next to questions you're unsure of — come back and confirm on the second listen

cien vs ciento — when do you use each?
cien = exactly 100, used alone or directly before a noun: cien euros, cien alumnos. ciento = 100 in compound numbers: ciento dos (102), ciento diez (110). Never 'cien dos' — that's wrong.
vino vs vine — what does each mean?
vino = wine OR he/she came (3rd person preterite of venir). vine = I came (1st person preterite of venir). These sound different (vino/vine), but both are preterite forms. Context + the subject pronoun are your clues.
