Before listening, always read the question carefully — does it ask for a time, a date, a price? Prime your ear for what number format to expect.
- Write numbers you hear immediately — don't try to hold them in short-term memory
- For times: draw a quick clock face in the margin to visualise menos cuarto vs y cuarto
- For prices: listen for "y" after the tens digit — noventa vs noventa y nueve
- For years: count the sections — dos mil (2000) + veinticinco (25) = 2025
- AQA recordings play TWICE — use the first play to catch meaning, the second to confirm numbers
