💡 Exam Tips & Common Errors
- For the writing task, use at least two character adjectives with a justified opinion — this lifts you from a mark-3 to a mark-5 response.
- Vary between il est, elle est, and c'est quelqu'un qui... to show range.
- In speaking, examiners reward spontaneous extension — if asked about family, add a relationship phrase even if not directly asked.
- Remember: adjectives agree in gender and number in French — this is an AO3 accuracy mark every time.
❌ Common error: Ma mère est très gentil et travailleur.
✓ Correct: Ma mère est très gentille et travailleuse.
Why it costs marks: ma mère is feminine — adjectives must agree. Using the masculine form is a consistent AO3 grammar error that examiners note. Gentil → gentille (double l + e); travailleur → travailleuse (change -eur to -euse).
