â Faire de vs Jouer Ă
Faire de (+ de la / du / de l' / des) is used for sports you "do" or "practise" â mainly individual or non-team sports. Jouer Ă (+ au / Ă la / Ă l' / aux) is used for games and team sports you "play". In practice, both je fais du foot and je joue au foot are correct and used â but jouer Ă sounds more natural for team sports. Never say je joue du foot â this is a common error.
