Time markers (expressions of time) signal to the examiner which time frame you are working in. Place them at the start of a sentence for maximum clarity.

⭐ Time frames ≠ tenses

A time marker signals the frame; the verb tense is a separate layer. Both together are ideal, but even a time marker + present tense signals the intended meaning:
