For some years now, the number of young people who use social networks has considerably increased. Although some parents worry about the negative effects on mental health, most teenagers claim that these platforms allow them to stay in contact with their friends.
- augmenté — past participle of augmenter after a (passé composé with avoir). Grid B: -é ending required. No agreement (object follows the verb)
- Bien que certains parents s'inquiètent — 'bien que' triggers subjunctive. Here s'inquiètent is both indicative and subjunctive in form (homographic). Grid B tests that you write the -ent ending (plural). Never write s'inquiète — the subject is certains parents (plural)

- permettent — ils/elles -ent: plateformes (plural subject via 'ces'). Two -tt and silent -ent: per-met-tent. Grid B
- santé mentale — feminine noun + feminine adjective: mentale (not mental). Grid A for santé; feminine agreement for mentale
Example 2 — conditional + subjunctive (51 words): Si j'avais plus d'argent, j'achèterais une voiture électrique pour réduire mon empreinte carbone. - préférerait — conditional of préférer: préfér-e-r-ait. Two accents: é in préfér, then e in the conditional stem, then -rait. Grid B
- prenions — present subjunctive of prendre after 'préférerait que': nous prenions (not prenons). The -ions ending is the subjunctive signal for nous. Grid B
- fasse — present subjunctive of faire after 'il faudrait que': fasse (not fait or fais). Irregular — must be memorised. Grid B
- empreinte carbone — carbon footprint: e-m-p-r-e-i-n-t-e (no accent). Grid A word
