School, subjects and future careers are core AQA topics — you will be asked about them again and again across speaking, writing and reading tasks. 💡 Exam Tips & Common Errors
- In the speaking exam, name your Lieblingsfach AND give a reason with weil — this earns extra communication marks.
- Use Ich möchte ... werden to talk about your career plans — a reliable, examiner-friendly structure.
- Remember that job nouns drop the article after werden: Ich möchte Lehrerin werden, not eine Lehrerin.
❌ Common error: Ich möchte ein Arzt werden.
✓ Correct: Ich möchte Arzt werden.
Why it costs marks: after werden with a profession, German uses NO article — Ich möchte Arzt werden, not ein Arzt. Adding ein is a calque from English ("become a doctor") and is marked as an error.
