Abstract nouns and conditional forms: Persönlichkeit, Möglichkeit, Atmosphäre, oberflächlich, hätte, wäre, würde, Stück. A missing umlaut on any of these loses a Grid B mark — and 'schon' vs 'schön' or 'Mutter' vs 'Mütter' even changes the meaning.
Which ß words are easy to mishear at Higher level?
'weiß' (I know — long ei, so ß not ss) vs 'weiss' is wrong; 'große' / 'groß' (long o, ß); 'heißt', 'Straße', 'draußen', 'genießen'. After a long vowel or diphthong write ß; after a short vowel write ss (muss, dass). 'dass' uses ss because the a is short.
