What is the 'hold' technique in dictation?
Hold a short chunk of words in your head, THEN write it down. Don't try to write while new words are still coming — you will miss them. Listen to a chunk, pause, write, then catch the next chunk.
What should you do on each of the three plays?
Play 1: listen to the WHOLE thing for meaning — don't write yet. Play 2: write as you hear, sentence by sentence. Play 3: check spelling, umlauts (ä/ö/ü), ß and capital letters. One clear job per play.
