    1st play — listen to the WHOLE passage for meaning. Don't write yet. Get the gist of what each sentence is about.
2nd play — write as you hear, sentence by sentence. Hold each chunk in your head, then write it down.
3rd play — CHECK: umlauts (ä/ö/ü), ß, capital letters on nouns, and verb endings.

  

📋 Key rules

Write every word — small words like und, aber, auch, ist carry marks too.
Don't leave blanks — attempt every word, even unfamiliar (off-list) ones: spell them using German phonics rules.
Capitalise all nouns — this is a fixed German rule, not a choice.

Foundation: Meine Schwester heißt Anna.

My sister is called Anna.

Listen for the name — it starts with a capital A (Anna). Names always take a capital.
The verb heißt contains the ß sound — write ß, not ss or s.
Write every word: Meine (capital, it starts the sentence) + Schwester (capital noun) + heißt + Anna.

Higher Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich müde bin.

I am staying at home because I am tired.

This is a longer chunk — hold the whole weil clause in your head before you write it.
After weil, the verb goes to the END: … weil ich müde bin. Get the verb bin to the very end when you transcribe.
Check the umlaut: müde needs the ü — listen for the rounded sound.
