Common Mistakes

✗ 3(x + 4) = 3x + 4 ✓ 3(x + 4) = 3x + 12 (multiply BOTH terms)
✗ -2(x - 3) = -2x - 6 ✓ -2(x - 3) = -2x + 6 (neg × neg = pos)
✗ 5(x + 2) = 5x + 2 ✓ 5(x + 2) = 5x + 10 (don't forget the second term!)
