Worked Example 2: Finding Mass
Gold has density 19.3 g/cm³. Find the mass of a gold bar with volume 25cm³.
Step 1 Rearrange for Mass
Mass = Density × Volume
Step 2 Calculate
M = 19.3 × 25 = 482.5g
Practice questions for Density
Which formula correctly shows how density (D), mass (M) and volume (V) are related?
Explain what is meant by a density of 5 g/cm³.
