Worked Example 2: Multiplying Decimals

Calculate: 4.2 × 0.35

Solution

Step 1: Multiply ignoring decimals

42 × 35 = 1470

Step 2: Count decimal places

4.2 has 1 place, 0.35 has 2 places → Total: 3 places

Step 3: Place decimal point

1470 → 1.470 or 1.47
