The Specialist vs. The Multi-Tasker

Your laptop is like a multi-talented chef who can cook anything - Italian, Chinese, Mexican. It's flexible but requires lots of equipment and space. Your washing machine's computer is like a specialist chef who ONLY makes perfect pizza - nothing else, but does it brilliantly with minimal equipment. That's the difference between a general-purpose computer (your laptop) and an embedded system (the computer inside your washing machine). One does everything, the other does one job perfectly!
