Ratio as Parts

Ratio 2:3 means:

First gets 2/5
Second gets 3/5

Simplifying Ratios

12:18
÷2 → 6:9
÷3 → 2:3

Or find HCF(12,18) = 6
12÷6 : 18÷6 = 2:3

Ratio to Fraction

Boys:Girls = 3:5

Boys = 3/(3+5) = 3/8
Girls = 5/(3+5) = 5/8
