Worked Example 3: Comparing Fractions
Which is larger: 3/5 or 7/12?
Solution
Find common denominator: LCM of 5 and 12 = 60
3/5 = 36/60 (multiply by 12)
7/12 = 35/60 (multiply by 5)
36/60 > 35/60
Therefore 3/5 > 7/12
